Dracaena fr. comp. dorado Dracaena Dorado 90-carrousel,6 cutting(s)/pot

Dracaena ‘Dorado’ is a type of Dracaena with variegated leaves that have yellow stripes. Here’s how to grow and care for a Dorado Dracaena:

Materials You’ll Need:

• Dorado Dracaena plant
• Suitable pot with drainage holes (if growing in a container)
• Well-draining potting mix
• Fertilizer for houseplants
• Watering can
• Pruning shears (for maintenance)
• Support stakes (if needed)

Steps:

1. Light: Place your Dorado Dracaena in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct sunlight, especially morning sun, but avoid exposing it to harsh, full sun, which can scorch the leaves. Rotate the plant occasionally for even growth.

2. Temperature: Maintain a temperature between 65°F to 75°F (18°C to 24°C). Protect the plant from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 50°F (10°C).

3. Pot Selection (if growing in a container): Choose a pot with drainage holes to prevent water from pooling at the roots. Repot your Dorado Dracaena when it becomes root-bound or has outgrown its current pot.

4. Potting Mix (if growing in a container): Use a well-draining potting mix suitable for houseplants. Good aeration and drainage are essential for healthy root development.

5. Watering: Water your Dorado Dracaena when the top inch of the soil feels dry. Water thoroughly, allowing excess water to drain from the pot. Reduce watering during the dormant season (fall and winter).

6. Fertilization: Feed your plant with a balanced liquid fertilizer for houseplants every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Dilute the fertilizer to half strength to prevent over-fertilization.

7. Pruning and Maintenance: Prune your Dorado Dracaena as needed to remove dead or yellowing leaves and to maintain its shape. Regular pruning will help promote a bushier appearance. Use clean pruning shears for this.

8. Support Stakes (if needed): If your Dorado Dracaena grows tall and becomes top-heavy, you can use support stakes to help keep it upright.

9. Protection: Protect your plant from cold drafts and temperature extremes. Avoid placing it near heating or cooling vents.

10. Patience: Be patient with your Dorado Dracaena. Growth may take time, and the variegated leaves are part of what makes it visually striking.

With proper care and attention, your Dorado Dracaena will thrive, and its variegated leaves will continue to add a beautiful touch to your indoor space.
