Olla Irrigation Pot
Do you want irrigation in the (vegetable) garden during a weekend away or during warm summers? Then the Olla irrigation pot is the solution! The SOGO Olla watering jug is a porous terracotta jug. This model has been used for centuries as a smart irrigation method. The Olla is buried up to the neck
in the soil between the plants and you fill it with water once or twice a week (depending on rainfall, temperature and the plant’s water needs). The plant roots will grow toward the pot and draw water from the pot. Because the jug is porous, it slowly releases water to the soil around it when it is dry. When
the soil is moist, the water stays in it. This creates a constantly moist environment where plants can continue to grow evenly. The jug can be closed with a lid to prevent evaporation, saving up to 50% to 70% of water consumption. The lid also prevents the water from becoming contaminated and mosquitoes cannot reach it to lay their eggs. The Olla is ideal for use in
flower boxes, vegetable gardens and greenhouses. The best time to place an Olla is planting time. This allows the roots of the plants to develop optimally in the direction of the Olla. One Olla waters plants within a radius of around 50 cm. We recommend removing the Olla from the ground before the first night frost and storing it dry and frost-free.
